Pepe and Anna earning silver at the Danish National Championships.

The past weekend Pepe and Anna took home the silver medal at the national championships in dressage.

Even though Pepe and Anna came to Broholm as reigning champions, Anna could not be anything but happy with this weekend. She brought three horses to Broholm; the 7-year-old Fürstenstein who competed at natinal level for the very first time and earned a first and a second place in the MB classes, 10-year-old Stasia Eg who won Prix st. George and was placed sixth in MA2, and of course Pepe, who delivered outstanding performances three days in a row.

“Of course I love to win but how can I be anything but thrilled when I get 76.7 – 78.2 and 81 %? Wauw, he was just amazing this weekend. So fresh and supple to ride all three days, and he allowed me to take chances and push it to the limit, without making mistakes. When I think back on last year´s championships, which we won, how tired he was at the third day. I simply do not believe how this was possible!” says Anna, who got very emotional at the prizegiving ceremony when asked to put a few words on her rides this weekend: “I just want to thank my horse for his incredicble performance, and express how grateful I am for our companionship. And I want to thank my entire team for supporting me” said Anna, who could not hide her emotions but had to wipe away a few tears before getting back on Pepe to ride the lap of honour.

Anna’s horses will get some well deserved rest now, and the next show…? That is up to the national coach, Rudolf Zeilinger! The team for the Olympics will be nominated on the 16th July, after the Grand Prix Special in Aachen.
