Dreams coming true in Gothenburg

Denmark winning silver at the European Championships.

With what Anna describes as the Dream Team, Denmark earned a silver medal at the European Championships in Gothenburg last week. The team consisted of Anna’s two teammates from the Olympic Games in Rio, Agnete and Cathrine, and the newbie, Anna Zibrandtsen.

The team was the youngest at the European Championships, with Anna as the most experienced team member with six international senior championships with Pepe in her bag.

“Going to Gothenburg, we hoped for the bronze medal, which we thought was realistic if everything went well. Ending up with silver was fantastic, and we were all so excited and super proud,” says Anna, who was not late to dedicate the medal to the entire team behind the Danish riders. “We had a lot of fun Wednesday night, so it was good we had a rest day before the Special”, Anna laughs. The silver medal was the first of its carat to Danish Dressage in 32 years.

“This week has been amazing. We have a unique team spirit, which did not only demonstrate during the team competition, but throughout the entire week, where we have supported each other, but also given each other space when needed. That Cathrine added two individual medals to our team silver is fantastic, and underlines that we have exciting times ahead of us,” Anna explains.

Pepe again impressed with his good shape and energy throughout the week, to end his 6th championship with Anna and 8th overall with an individual 7th place. “With Pepe, I will continue to take one show at the time. He will have a well-deserved holiday now and if all goes well, I will prepare him for the World Cup qualifier in Herning in the fall,” Anna concludes.
